Information

What is cosmetic tooth whitening?

Cosmetic teeth whitening is an especially gentle and painless treatment for removing stains from teeth and restoring their natural, radiant whiteness. Unlike medical bleaching performed by a dentist, I use a peroxide-free method at our beauty studio. This means that, in accordance with strict EU regulations, the whitening gel I use contains less than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide. The whitening is activated purely for cosmetic purposes by combining the special gel with a modern LED cold-light lamp. The light gently breaks down the color molecules embedded in the tooth enamel (caused by coffee, tea, red wine or nicotine) without damaging the tooth structure or gums. The result: Your teeth are whitened by several shades in just one session—completely safely, painlessly and without any annoying tooth sensitivity afterward!

What is the treatment process?

Teeth whitening with me is completely relaxing for you. You can simply sit back while, in about 45 to 60 minutes, we reveal the smile of your dreams. The process is divided into five easy steps:

  • Step 1: Your consultation & shade assessment: Before we begin, we take the time to focus on you. We determine your current tooth shade using a professional shade guide. This lets us discuss your desired results and accurately measure the before-and-after difference.
  • Step 2: Preparation: For the best results, you’ll first give your teeth a quick clean at our studio using a special activation finger wipe (a small disposable tooth-cleaning cloth). Then we’ll fit a soft, flexible silicone lip retractor. It keeps your teeth exposed and prevents the gel from coming into contact with your lips.
  • Step 3: Applying the whitening gel: We then carefully apply the certified, peroxide-free whitening gel to your visible teeth—your so-called “smile zone.” Your gums remain completely untouched and protected.
  • Step 4: LED light activation: Now we use our state-of-the-art LED lamp. The cool blue light activates the gel directly on your teeth, gently breaking down the stain molecules in the enamel. Depending on how much whitening you want, we repeat this process in 2 to 3 sessions of 10–15 minutes each, applying fresh gel each time.
  • Step 5: Your new smile: After the final session, simply rinse your mouth with clean water. I’ll measure your new tooth shade—you’ll see the difference in the mirror right away!

Who is suitable?

Cosmetic teeth whitening is ideal for almost any adult who wants a brighter, fresher smile. It’s especially suitable for you if your teeth are stained by coffee, tea, cola, red wine, or nicotine. Since the procedure is very gentle, it’s also the perfect choice if you have sensitive teeth. However, here’s what you should keep in mind:

  • Healthy teeth & gums: Your teeth should be free of cavities, and your gums should be healthy. If you have any dental problems, you should have them treated by your dentist first.
  • Natural teeth: The whitening gel works only on your natural tooth structure. Crowns, bridges, veneers, and composite fillings won’t become lighter with whitening; they’ll retain their original color.
  • Minimum age: For legal reasons, I only provide cosmetic teeth whitening to clients aged 18 and over.

When is cosmetic teeth whitening not suitable? I don’t provide treatment during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, or for people currently undergoing orthodontic treatment or chemotherapy.

What needs to be taken into account?

To ensure your whitening results are perfect and you can enjoy your bright white teeth for a long time, there are a few simple but important rules to follow before and after your appointment: What you should do BEFORE your treatment:

  • Brush your teeth: It’s best to arrive for your appointment with freshly brushed teeth.
  • Professional teeth cleaning (our insider tip): For the very best and most even results, we recommend having a professional teeth cleaning at your dentist’s office about 1 to 2 weeks before your whitening treatment. Once the tartar is gone, the gel can work perfectly!

What you need to do AFTER your treatment (the 48-hour rule): Immediately after whitening, your tooth enamel is still slightly more receptive to new color pigments. To seal in your new whiteness for the long term, follow a strict “white diet” for the first 48 hours:

  • ❌ Avoid foods and drinks that stain: Coffee, black or green tea, red wine, cola, juice, tomato sauce, curry, soy sauce, ketchup, and dark berries are off-limits for the first two days.
  • ❌ No smoking: Please avoid smoking completely for 48 hours (cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and hookah), as nicotine can immediately stain your fresh results.
  • ✅ What you can eat and drink: Water, milk, quark, plain yogurt, rice, pasta (with a light-colored sauce), white meat (chicken), cauliflower, and peeled potatoes.
  • 🪥 Dental care: For the first two days, use a regular white toothpaste without harsh abrasives (please don’t use “whitening toothpastes”) and a soft-bristled toothbrush.

How long do the results last?

How long your new, radiant smile lasts depends entirely on your lifestyle and habits. On average, the results remain visible for around 6 to 9 months, and in many cases, even considerably longer.Factors that affect how long it lasts:

  • Your consumption habits: If you regularly drink coffee, tea, cola or red wine, or smoke, new pigments can build up on your teeth more quickly.
  • Your dental care: Thorough, regular oral hygiene at home (brushing your teeth twice a day and using dental floss) noticeably extends the results.
  • Professional teeth cleaning: Having your teeth cleaned regularly by a dentist removes fresh, surface stains before they can set in.

Our tip for lasting white teeth: Since our cosmetic treatment is super gentle and completely harmless to your tooth enamel, you can have it refreshed every 4 to 6 months with complete peace of mind to maintain your brightest possible smile!

How often can the treatment be repeated?

Since cosmetic teeth whitening is 100% peroxide-free, it won’t harm your enamel or gums. That means you can have the treatment repeated as often as you like, with complete peace of mind, to maintain your dazzling white smile over time. Are there minimum intervals you need to observe? That depends entirely on the results you’re looking for right now:

  • For maximum whitening at the outset: If your teeth are heavily stained and you’d like to get a little more out of your first session, you can have a second treatment (known as a “touch-up”) just 7 to 14 days later. It’s completely safe and will enhance your results even further.
  • For regular touch-ups: To keep your bright smile looking fresh over the long term, I recommend waiting 4 to 6 months. Many of our customers simply make whitening a regular part of their beauty routine, just like getting their hair or nails done.

In short: You don’t need to take long breaks to protect your teeth—you can come in whenever you feel your smile could use a little upgrade!

Is the treatment painful? Are there any side effects?

The short answer is: No, absolutely not! That’s one of the biggest benefits of our cosmetic teeth whitening. Since we use a peroxide-free whitening gel (less than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide, in accordance with strict EU guidelines) and modern LED cold light, the treatment is completely painless for you. What this means for you:

  • No flashes or sharp pains: Unlike aggressive medical whitening at the dentist, which often uses highly concentrated acids, at most you’ll feel a slight, completely painless tingling during your session with us.
  • No tooth sensitivity afterward: Your nerves and tooth enamel are not affected. So after your appointment, you won’t have to worry about painful “zingers” when drinking hot or cold beverages.
  • Gentle on your gums: Our gel is formulated so gently that even brief contact with your gums won’t cause chemical burns or white spots.

In very rare cases, there may be minimal, temporary gum irritation immediately after the treatment, but this usually disappears completely on its own after just a few hours. So you can leave our studio with a radiant smile and absolutely no pain!
